Linex Enclosure
Many complex and often contradictory design criteria were imposed on the new Linex™ enclosure. These demands could only be met by unorthodox and sophisticated production methods. A conventional wooden box design simply could not fully address the desired ease of use, transport and rigging facilities.
SOUND PROJECTS engineers have massive experience with injection moulding. Therefore the choice for this production method was obvious. It would allow total freedom in shape. In an attempt to improve the traditional qualities of birch multiplex, a totally new carbon-fibre composite was developed. The use of this material demanded a complex steel and copper mould and a tremendeous injection pressure. The unique carbon composite properties combined with a clever inner reinforcement structures have resulted in an extremely rigid enclosure. Stiffer and yet 30% lighter than a conventional wooden cabinet. Consequentially this lightweight cabinet construction enables the use of lighter rigging equipment. Finally each Linex™ is equipped with an impressive quantity of twelve handles, and a high level of weather proofing.
