Concert hall ArtEZ installs DreamLineThe concert hall of conservatory ArtEZ in the Dutch city Arnhem is lately supplied with a new Sound Projects DreamLine sound system. The installation was provided by the Arnhem based company Live Music.
ArtEZ originated in 2002 by a fusion of the Art Universities of Arnhem, Enschede and Zwolle. The ArtEZ conservatory, with more than 900 students and 260 teachers is one of the larger Dutch conservatories. All three locations have good facilities, like separate concert halls, media and studios.
The concert hall of the conservatory in Arnhem stood in need of a new sound system because the excising system was often obstructing the sight of the audience. ArtEZ worked with Live Music as contractor for years and had chosen Sound Projects systems already as reinforcement for different auditoria. Reason enough to consult Live Music again. The introduction demo of the Sound Projects DreamLine last year was so convincing that the ArtEZ management now immediately thought about this system. This in combination with the many positive experiences the conservatory had with Sound Projects, led to a rapid and uncomplicated decision in favour of this system.
The new DreamLines are being flown and the additional subs are concealed under the stage so the concert hall appears to be more open. Bart Smits (MD at Live Music): “The concert hall in Arnhem is not so large, whereby most other systems with about the same sound qualities would quickly be too obtrusive. The slim DreamLines give more than enough coverage/dispersion and SPL. And with the additional two SP2-15 subs that are being built in the stage, you get the feeling to hear a complete system anywhere in the auditorium, without seeing much of it.” The management required a system as unobtrusive as possible. Colour was determining. Therefore the tailor made Dreamlines were coated in the RAL colour of the walls.
Smits adds: “The fixed DreamLines are connected in such a way that anyone with a signal can easily obtain the perfect reproduction. Due to the efficient engineering and the shape of the DreamLine, Sound Projects created a concept that makes it easy to reinforce any venue for any purpose, even with difficult acoustics. The sound quality is very high.” Live Music also supplied a Roland M400 digital console for this ArtEZ concert hall. Smits: “Via Ethernet the stage box is connected with the mixer where everything can be stored.”
